What to do about the market?
The stock market has been on a tear recently. Ups and downs, but generally up. What does that mean for you? One of the biggest lessons we have learned from the last 20 years is that trusting the market to continue to gain is fundamental. It will continue to go up. However, it will also have periods of time where it declines, sometimes sharply. In the long term it doesn't really matter. It'll come back is the usual refrain.
The issue arises if you are approaching retirement age. Then a down market can dramatically affect your retirement security. We saw that during the tech bubble back in 1999. A lot of people across the country rode the bubble right until the moment it burst. Then it took nearly a decade to recover those losses.
If there is one lesson to learn is that the stock market is great for people in their early to mid stages of life. But it can be capricious when you are in your 60's. You want to lock in your gains at that point. Index annuities are amazing for asset preservation while also allowing for much better growth than bonds or certainly CD's. They offer protection from a down market while allowing for gains when the market goes up.
If you are approaching retirement it's crucial that you protect your assets from a black swan market event. You can't predict it, you can't prevent it, and it can decimate your retirement funds. We have amazing tools to assist you with this. Give us a call or send an email and let us show you this next generation of annuities that are available today. You'll be amazed and surprised.
